Is it possible to die of comics?
First off lets start at the beginning when I was a little before I could walk I began looking at comics. More importantly Marvel comics, and even more so X-men comics. Yes from an early age I was a geek. I learned how to read from them, and awaited the time I turned 12 to see if I was a Mutant. And there is a widely accepted idea that “Wolverine” was my first word.
Now one might think that this is a happy story but sadly no, I had the entire Phoenix saga, and comics upon comics, then one day in third grade I came home to an empty room, my comics were gone and I can still hear my mom. “Girls don’t read comics.” This is why I hate people in my room and I shut the door. Now I was allowed in the comic shop latter for a CSI comic, I liked the show and well I was reading. I would try and push the newest X-men issue to look at it. Or put it on the inside but no dice, I was X-menless.
Then in 2000 X-men was made into a MOVIE!!! Of course I went the first night; it was like a refresher course I saw all my old favorites ok Wolvie and Toad while Psylock was elsewhere. Then X2 came out and I was in heaven. Soon I learned how to walk to the comic shop, (Against my moms will) and last year Comic Con.
And well now I am proud of my geekness so today thanks to Kaytee I came home with a TON of comics, all wrapped and boarded. Shit I have comics that I haven’t seen in ages and ones that I have never seen, like, What if Hulk killed Wolverine? And the best part was only 5 were doubles! And I have things from that other publisher that I would never give the light of day but look kind of cool. Sadly there was not DPS (*tear* but comic con in March) But there was 2 trades one of which is Marvel vs. DC! Worth it I would say.
But now I have a problem I haven’t had this many comics in so long. I think it is time for me to invest in a comic slat. Or seven…
