Orang Utan Comics has been gracious enough to offer me the position of North American Representative starting in Jan of 2008 and I was very happy to accept. Everybody over at OUC are top notch professionals and I only hope I can live up to the high standards everyone there has already reached. I also now have a Mamluk page on the OUC website and a section in the OUC forum. Come on over and check us out, Orang Utan Comics is going places, keep an eye out or you might miss it. Update Sept. 07 Hello everyone, been a long while since I put up an update here and a lot has been going on. After a long and fruitful stint at Visionary Comics Studio we have decided to part ways. Basically I need to get back to focusing on my projects for awhile and get the creative juices flowing again. I wish all my friends at Visionary all the best and I encourage everyone to keep an eye out for all the great titles coming from them soon. Headlocked is going to be the first out of the gate and it looks to be hard hitting behind the scenes look at the world of Professional Wrestling. Now, back to me. My day job recently sent me across the pond to visit one of our offices there and give some training and while I was there I met up with Peter Rogers, Ian Sharman and Cherie Donovan of Orang Utan Comics. Now I’ve known these folks for a long time but had never met them face to face. They took me to Forbidden Planet, a world famous comic shop in London and I can see why it is so famous. It’s two stories with one being dedicated to just comics and the other to figurines, gaming and memorabilia. A great place and you can see some pictures of my visit in my gallery. So, while having a few pints in a local pub, my projects were naturally discussed as well as the great books coming out of OUC like The Eleventh Hour, Young Gods and Slam Ridley. One thing lead to another and now, I’m a member of the Orang Utan team and I look forward to getting Mamluk back on track. Cyra is currently on hold until we get Mamluk off the ground but never fear, she won’t be forgotten. I should also note, while pub crawling through London with OUC we met up with the infamous David Monteith and Barry Nugent of the Geek Syndicate Podcast. What followed was a spectacular time filled with talk of comics, movies, girls and beer. All very much my favorite subjects. They even gave me a shout out on their next podcast, episode 52. It takes place around the 9:50 mark during the show though I highly recommend listening to the entire show, but be warned, the show is highly addictive and you will want to go back for more and start hanging out on their forum. Mamluk is a military science fiction story set in the far future. The basic premise is that the human race has been kidnapped off the earth and turned into a military force for an alien empire. The term Mamluk is from the Egyptian warrior slaves that eventually overthrew their masters and took over the kingdom. Like the Egyptians, the aliens will learn that it isn’t wise to give your slaves all the weapons.
