I used to draw and color all the time. I loved to color and when I was a teen all I wanted to do was color for Disney. Then I grew up. For the last ten years or so I have been stifled by someone who was not supportive of my artwork in any style. Stifled by the demeaning thoughts, underlying jealously whenever I succeeded, and a lack of the meaning of "constructive" criticism, I lacked the courage to doing anything of an artistic nature.
In addition I didn't really know anyone who would encourage that so I never did anything except basic graphic design things. I used my other creative talents(ten years of training - vocal instruction, dance, ice skating, gymnastics, majorette (baton twirler), and the like). But it was just not the same as lifting a pen to paper and letting it move freely across the page to create something. Now I have come to life. I have encouragement from someone who is an amazing artist. I have found a new love - INKING. Those who know me say well of course you love to ink, it is coloring in black! Well duh to all of you! In addition to that I have found some styles of comics I like and a genre of Manga that I like as well. Ok, now for those of you who are now saying "Pooh on you" take it back. I do not want to do sleazy panty shots or draw a style of Manga that is already out there. I want to bring someone thing new to the scene and you will just have to wait to see it. Until then I am always on the look out for freelance Inking work. I think inking for a short story or comic that is in the start up or presentation phase is probably the best for me for now. I love a challenge and am open to more, but I would want to be able to produce quality work for you and that requires time for me still. I think I have a great eye for it and a great talent but it still takes time to be the best. I like stippling and simple lines and I like to bring out the art with inking creatively. I like tight pencils, but with some leeway to embellish. Loose pencils are fine but I haven't' done a lot of work that way yet, so I wouldn't want to step on penciller's toes. I am courteous to other designers and have emailed or contacted any artist that I want to do their work (as I think even Rick Lacey will testify). I enjoy photorealism work as well and have been studying up on Al Williamson and Dave Sim. I know there are great inkers out there but out of the list of great inkers: There aren't many women among them-Rachel Dodson and Terry Moore I hear are the top. Well, I hope to change that and add to that list. No I am not a tracer, I am learning to give inking my own flair and style and I am sure thru the years you will see me grow. I hope to always learn and grow or I think I would be dead. But I want to be great at what I do and I implore all of you to do the same. With that said, if you have "constructive" criticism to give me, lay it on. If you see areas where I could grow, let me know about it. And if you need an inker, hollar at me and I will hollar back! Now, I have to go back to doing my research and setting up my other pages so you can find me. Until next time, check out my sites, look over my work and let me know if there is anything I can do for you. TTFN! Trish trishatrixie's BulletinsDisplaying 1-2 of 2 bulletins...
