Ha! I have very little life - just sittin' here at the computer coloring comic pages - so replying to e-mails like that isn't much of a hassle. ;)

And thanks! I was just checking out your art and I dig your style (though the scans themselves look kinda rough).

i put that down to my scanner, but i could just as easily be doing something wrong in photoshop when i scan.
any advice on what i could do to fix that?

[ Posted by troutman on Dec 23rd, 2006 7:27 PM ]...

Depends. Are you scanning everything at 300 or 600 dpi? That's the key. After it's scanned in at that enormous size, then you can Image > Image Size... and change the size of the image to a more web-friendly width (make sure Resample Image is on and set to Bicubic).

Images resized from higher resolutions will look better on the web than images scanned at smaller sizes.

And it needs be said that any comic work is better manipulated (colored, lettered, etc) at higher resolutions anyway. Your scans look like they were scanned in at 72dpi to begin with, although I could be wrong (I often am). In the end, maybe it IS just your scanner!

i scan comics at 300, but stuff for the ol' sketchblog i scan at 72 since it's going on the web anyway. hmmm. perhaps i should start scanning those at a higher res. thanks, trout! 8^)

Hey, no worries about the add, and thanks for your comment on the comics! :)

Thanks for the add. Good to see another Phoenix area comic person on ComicSpace. If you make it to Cactus Con in Jan. please stop by the Hi-Fi booth/table and intoduce yourself. I'm checking out your web comic now. I'm eerily drawn in by the creepy clown on page 2.

Have a great holiday, my friend!

I expected you to be a lot younger! And less emo.

So comicspace is for comment spam, I guess.

So I'm not the only one in Phoenix, the "cultural hub of the american southwest".

I share your pain, thx for the add.
