![]() This is a cool idea for a site. I've spent hours just browsing the galleries of artists from around the world, and I haven't scratched the surface. I've got to admit that reading comics as a kid, I only looked at the pictures. Now I read some stories, but it's still the art that gets me inspired. Jim Woodring has found the essence of form and sequential story telling in his work. Sometimes brutal, but always beautiful. Paul Pope's Batman Year 100 recently caught my attention. That led to me reading Heavy Liquid and 100%. The wild freedom of Batman blew me away. It was good to see that same energy used with more restraint. Katsuhiro Otomo and Bruce Bickford are probably on the opposite ends of the spectrum of animated film, but both their work has impacted my view of what animated art can be. I think Hideo Kojima's digital graphic novels of the Metal Gear series are movements toward a new high art. |
