Just got back from Sakura Con yesterday. All in all a really good show, one of the 3 anime shows actually like to go to, mainly because the people and fans are normal and really cool for the most part. Sure there are a few "weird" fans, but for the most part even they are shining examples of normalcy and sanity compared to other shows out there. Kind of fell off track of taking the rounds through the office and AP in general, but hopefully I can get back to that in the next few days. Had to hit the ground running though, turns out one side bar I had prior notice about before leaving for the show I though I had a few weeks for, but turns out needs to be done ASAP for this massive animation "con" (for lack of a better word) over in France. That's really cool, but didnt expect to have to do it so soon, and I left my stupid jump drive with the flats I layed on one of the images at the office. I had planned to color that one tonight and do the other tomorrow, so now I'm flatting the other and some dumb stuff has gotten in the way of progress tonight, so I'm pretty sure it won't be colored tonight. Probably have to start coloring Pirates Vs Ninjas volume 2 issue 1 this or next week. Don't think I have to do too much of it, but there is some really cool stuff and I got all these ideas so I'll try to do some because it'll probably be my only chance to because next month I really have to focus and get Sky SHarks colored and finished up. I'll try and get some of that new stuff up, just need to catch my breath some. Back to it.

I guess I should at least say something about myself before I go round and introduce the whole of AP, it is my page after all. All right, so, I'm Wes, I currently serve as managing editor at AP, basically that means I make sure the books get assembled and out to the printers once we get them from the artists. I am also one of the lead production "designers" for lack of a better term. I also do some writing, currently only at AP, but I co-write Pirates vs. Ninjas and am currently developing a new series this summer called Sky Sharks with Fred Perry. On top of all that I'm a colorist. I work with Guru-eFX and freelance for myself as well. Currently with GURU we have a total of...let me count...5 monthly titles for Marvel. Yikes. Due to being pulled in all directions, obviously I can't always work on every issue, but lately... And then outside of Marvel and AP I do a lot of freelance coloring for some upcoming children's library books, basically classics illustrated, and try to do 2-3 of those a month. I don't sleep much, I'm outside even less, and have a ridiculous addiction to dvds.

Sometimes I feel that the comic industry and the comic reading public really have no inkling of how much blood sweat and tears we at Antarctic Press put into everything we do. Hell, most of the people out there don't even realize we exist, and if (and when) they sit down and look at everything we produce in the company that person(s) is usually delivered a self induced nutcheck by the shear talent, skill, quality, and time put into every project. And that's only what they see from AP. The people we have working on our projects, are so good and fast at what they do, what normally takes most people/companies a month solid (or more) gets done anywhere between 24hours and 2 weeks. (note that the 24 hour jobs are typically the reprint materials and/or stuff we put together from stuff around the office i.e. sketchbooks, tourbooks, etc). But then you got guys like Fred Perry...he's AMAZING. Every month, 24 (or more) page comic. That might sound normal, but let me break it down. That's 24+ pages he writes, pencils, inks, colors, letters, each every month. But wait, he does that in 14-15 days, what does he do with the rest of his time? He taught himself how to animate, currently he's in progress on volume 3 of his animation, which is a considerable improvement in quality over his first 2, he's taught himself flash to do small flash animations on his GD Tangent site, which is his onlince comic, and he's currently drawing and co-developing my creator owned project Sky Sharks. Guys a phenomenon. Then there's Rod Espinosa. Rod has down right made creating a comic book into a science. That's a whole other post I'll do another time, but its insane. Then there's David Hutchison...well...David's actually really fallen behind now so he's not the best example at the moment, but a hard worker none the less. I can't forget Ben and Craig. This already long, I'll post some more tomorrow, and I'll try and give a breakdown of everyone at and involved at Antarctic Press. I'll pick up tomorrow (or the next day).

Upon the urging of my buddy Shannon, and no real excuse not to (lack of time really isn't that good of excuse for something this simple), I decided to go ahead and start one of these "space" pages and to hopefully actually use it. We'll see.
