UPDATE JUNE 8, 2009
Several things in my life have changed. I moved, twice. I've found happiness, and steady (lowly) employment. And a dream inspired a project that I've spent all my creative energies on... when I'm not too exhausted from work or other things. I'm slowly etching my way into this fantasy world that's revealed itself to me, getting to know its peoples, and figuring out how a certain few of them make their way into each other's paths to change a situation that has made their planet safer for countless generations.

UPDATE MARCH 3, 2009
XIIIth Soul has been submitted to a publisher, but was not accepted. Extenuating circumstances have also prevented me finishing the project as originally intended. Alas, this has turned out to be for the best, as XIIIth Soul is really only an origin story, and the more interesting tale begins several centuries in the future of his earth. Now, I am working on the story for a mini-series, intend to do the artwork myself, and will post blurbs and artwork here pretty much when I feel like it. It is an exciting project for me, and I have high hopes for it.

UPDATE JAN. 1, 2009
Dog Scorpion is on indefinite hiatus, though I am still looking for artists interested in working on the series. Cover arists and anyone interested in doing single issues or arcs, feel free to contact me. In the meantime, I'm working on one mini-series with a digital artist named Gad, and another mini-series that I'm doing the artwork for myself, mostly. The second series should be ready for submission to Shadowline within the month. Instead of line art, I'm editing digital photographs to make them more appropriate for the medium, and my roommate and I are "modeling" for the main characters in the story. I'll be posting the first issue cover and pages one and two, as they currently are (not sure if they're right yet), today. As for Dog Scorpion, the first issue script is complete and I can send a few sample pages to any artist interested in working with me on that, though I doubt I'll have much time to dedicate to further writing on the project for a few weeks, perhaps a couple of months.

(note: below content is not completely up to date)

THE SERIES
Dog Scorpion
Drake thinks he lives in an ordinary world. The population of his earth believes likewise. A very few know the truth, and Drake is about to join their number, to do a thing no one else can. Follow his story through transformation, heroism, the end of the world, and stranger things.

THE PLAN
A pool of three, four, or more artists working together with me to produce a monthly series. I want a varied style in Dog Scorpion, so the more distinctive artists involved, the better. Work will be divided by cover images, character design, specific issue scenes, and multiple-issue story arcs. Any level of involvement will be appreciated. Once an artist pool is established, I'll put together a proposal to submit to Image Comics. Artists will be paid according to their contribution to each issue, as profit comes in from each issue. I believe in fair compensation, and have no wish to make more than anyone else involved on the project. My goal is for this story to be told in comic book form, so my own gains from this work are my last concern. Monthly would be ideal, but if Image or anyone else involved thinks another format could work - graphic novels, mini-series, et cetera - I'm open to suggestion.

FURTHERMORE
Dog Scorpion could be considered thusly, at least so far as it exists in plot and my mind: Doctor Who meets Battlestar Galactica meets Astonishing X-Men, and I'm sure there will be further influences and comparisons obvious to other people that I'm not picking up consciously myself. I'm looking at the series as a whole in terms of "seasons" at this point, and fleshing out the first season so I can work out the scripts to the initial twelve-issue run of the series.

COMING SOON
Page layouts from issue one, and a sketch of some main characters, if the artist agrees to it being shown.

Peace and freedom.

Just wanted to let you know that I got your script and I'm working on it now along with a couple of other projects. I really like the Father/Nanny one and the Battlestar-esque one. I'll get them scanned soon and send em back to you. Hope 07 has started well....
